About Dr. Jim Rybacki - The author of Medicines and Your Family, national treatment guidelines
James J. Rybacki, Pharm. D., earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from theUniversity of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in Omaha. More than two decades of hospital experience and consulting have included early efforts in gas-liquid chromatography research characterizing human drug metabolites, and data collection for the College of American Pathologists helping to establish normal values for laboratory studies. He is Board Certified in Pain Management at the Diplomate level by the American Academy of Pain Management, and provides ongoing clinical pain management consulting. He provides cardiovascular, diabetes, HIV, osteoporosis and other therapeutic treatment clinical consults, drug information services and adherence recommendations. He is an approved External New Drug Application reviewer for the Canadian Drug Ministry, and participates in many aspects of medicine and post device approval research. He is a member of several Scientific Advisory Committees.
Dr. Rybacki is the author of the 24th edition of The Essential Guide to Prescription Drugs and is author of Medicines and Your Family, National Treatment Guidelines. As President of The Clearwater Group and lead clinical consultant of The Medicine Information Institute, he provides seminars and creates educational programming on heart-related treatment gaps in women, cholesterol control, high blood pressure management, appropriate use of medicines in hospitals, national heart attack prevention guidelines, infectious disease, pain management and therapeutics, drug information support and clinical pharmacy consulting services to physician groups and employers. He was selected for full membership in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and was the Pharm. D. member of the national Professional Education Committee of the American Heart Association. Dr. Rybacki presently serves on the Maryland Governor’s Osteoporosis task force. An active voice in consumer programming, he completed a nationally syndicated series of radio vignettes on preventing a first heart attack, and has written a testimonial for the AHA "Get With The Guidelines" program. He was the original host and writer of the American Pharmaceutical Association’s “The Pharmacist Minute” radio program, recently completed 26 nationally syndicated radio programs “The Bayer Aspirin Pharmacist Report with Dr. Jim Rybacki" and has completed more than 86 radio and television interviews on programs such as NPR, AARP Prime Time, Comcast Family Talk, Real Life and WBAL TV.
